When a person cannot be understood, they cannot ask for help, disclose violence or make choices about their own safety. This course shows you how to recognise when an interpreter is needed, work with one well, and carry a person's language needs into every referral. Done well, it means the person is heard accurately, their confidentiality holds, and nobody in their family is put at risk by being asked to interpret.

Six modules and a course check. The facilitated version runs as a one day workshop.

Written for Australia. The law, services and support lines in this course are Australian. Outside Australia, check your own law.
